What does a Support Services Assistant (General) do, and what duties will I be expected to do?

As a Support Services Assistant (General) you will be providing reasonable accommodation to a State employee at his/her job. You will be assisting the employee to accomplish his/her job in a variety of ways and specific to his/her needs.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Data entry
  • Filing and record retrieval
  • Reading, writing, and typing a variety of documents
  • Assisting with inbox mail
  • Serving as a messenger
  • Transporting employees in their work setting
  • Scheduling meetings for the employee
  • Note taking
  • Mail correspondence
  • Setting up special equipment
  • Purge/shred outdated/obsolete documents to ensure documents are organized and up to date
  • Describe work setting to visually impaired employee to ensure he/she is aware of the immediate environment
  • In some cases, Support Services Assistants may be asked to provide personal care
